Radiation Detector Specialist

Exclusive are working with an innovative technology company to appoint a Radiation Detector Specialist into their team. As a Radiation Detector Specialist you will be responsible for enhancing and expanding the product portfolio of scintillation detector products. This role would suit a Physics academic with relevant industry experience with such detection products.

A critical role for expanding their product offering, you will be involved in all parts of the design and optimisation of the optical signal chain. This includes scintillator interaction, light propagation and the conversion of light output to electrical signal. Knowledge and contribution to the development of the rest of the signal processing including electronic signal generation, interfacing and data processing would be of particular interest.

What you will be doing:

* Research and design of optical systems in scintillation detectors, both theoretical and practical in addition to the development and characterisation of new scintillating materials

* Application and optimisation of photon-detector readout (PMT, SiPM, APD)

* Selection and verification of the optimum signal conversion method and subsequent detector performance characterisation

Essential skills and experience to bring to the role:

* Practical experience running modelling and simulation of optical and electronic processes

* Practical experience of construction, setup and operation of scintillation/fluorescent detectors and their material properties

* Able to efficiently post process and present results in an open, sharing, communicative style, sharing thoughts at an early stage, engage in discussion and where necessary make changes

Desirable but not essential:

* Relevant industry experience

* Experience with radiation detector systems for gamma, neutron and x-ray characterisation

* Experience of Geant4 or similar Monte Carlo techniques and Experience of ZEMAX or similar ray tracing software

* Customer facing experience and ability to present to a conference/sponsor event
